The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation offers a series of math lessons for grades 3-5 that involve study of Hudson River animals and shipping. The lessons incorporate
Hudson River data to construct word problems that require mathematics skills for their solution. A number of the lessons require students to interpret information in tables or bar graphs. Several also build geography skills through use of Hudson River Miles, a system which uses mile numbers to locate points on the river.
