THE SCIENCE OF WEATHER

How do meteorologists forecast the weather?

Topper Shutt, Chief Meteorologist for WUSA Channel 9 in Washington, DC, explains how he uses weather modeling reports and satellite images from NOAA and NESDIS to forecast weather.
Garrison, Philipstown, and Putnam Valley can be especially hard hit by severe weather because our phone lines and power lines are not buried underground. In our wooded area, trees and tree limbs often fall during storms, hit power lines, and cause power outages. It's important to understand how different forms of weather occur, and how to prepare for severe weather.
